The Danish AI startup Karla is now expanding into Norway, and in connection with this, Mikkel Malesa is joining the partner group, which already consists of three young entrepreneurs.
Mikkel Malesa is the founder of the influencer platform Dreaminfluence, which was sold in 2022 to Christian Arnstedt’s Blazar Capital, known from “Løvens Hule” (the Danish version of Shark Tank), and later to the company Flowbox. He has been part of Karla’s advisory board for a year and a half - alongside investor and IT expert Christian Peytz - and has extensive knowledge of the Norwegian market.
Norway is of particular interest to Karla, which since 2023 has been developing AI solutions for customer communication via chatbots and search on websites. According to new data, Norway ranks third globally in AI usage, and more than half of all working Norwegians already use AI technology in their daily work (source: Shifter citing Microsoft’s AI Diffusion Technical Report). This makes the country a natural next step for Karla.
“I’ve previously seen how quickly the Norwegian market can move when presented with the right technology, and the latest data only reinforces the potential. Norway ranks third globally in AI adoption. Norwegian businesses and consumers are not just ready—they are among the most mature in the world when it comes to adopting serious AI solutions,” says Mikkel Malesa, continuing:
“Karla is entering Norway at a time when we have proven in Denmark that our technology creates real value and a healthy business. We’ve cracked the code for making AI operational and profitable for our customers, and now we’re ready to scale that journey. Winning the Norwegian market is the natural next step in our ambition to become the leading Nordic AI solution.”
Karla has quickly built a strong position in Denmark. Its customers include larger commercial companies, member organizations, and public institutions, where Karla’s chat and search products optimize communication and service.
Karla provides AI shortcuts to information that previously required many clicks but can now be found quickly and easily from websites, knowledge bases, and more. This improves the experience for users, customers, and members, while also reducing the workload on companies’ support functions.
Customer growth is at 100% annually, and last year Karla was nominated for an EY growth award for its early results and the strong potential of its product and business.
